This short book is filled with excellent meditations for the Advent season. It includes scripture, poetry, and prayers for each day of Advent. Even for a free church, non-liturgical pastor or chaplain, there is much meat for the Christmas season. The book is beneficial for people of many Christian traditions if the reference to pray to Mary is overlooked.

In Everybody Has An Angel, Benedictine monk Anselm Grün (Abbey of Münsterschwarzach, Germany) presents the angels of the bible as spiritual helpers quite accessible to Christians today. There is the Accompanying Angel; the Healing Angel; the Angel who “Shares My Joy”; and many, many more showcasing and mirroring the gentleness and compassion of God. Enthusiastically recommended for the non-specialist general reader with an interest in religion, spirituality, and the phenomena of angelic beings, Everybody Has An Angel underscores that we as humans are held safe in a very special way, that we do not have the responsibility for everything that happens to us.

“The reader will be amazed by the myriad ways in which these authors,
conjurers really, fnd daily life and the rituals of the ordinary to be magically
‘lit from within’ and sacramentally ‘charged by the grandeur of God.’ Highly
recommended.”
