Thomas H. Groome is professor of pastoral theology and religious education at Boston College. He completed doctoral studies at Columbia University Teacher’s College and Union Theological Seminary in New York. He has lectured widely throughout the world. Professor Groome is author of Christian Religious Education, probably the most widely read and translated book in religious education of the 20th century, and of Sharing Faith, already considered a classic in the field. He is also the principal author of Coming to Faith, a religion curriculum for K-8th grade.

  1. “Intelligent Christian teachers and parents, whether Catholic or Protestant, cannot fail to find this book illuminating and encouraging. Groome’s writing here is full of the wisdom of learning and life, and his book is distinguished from most others in the philosophy of religious education by the connections that the author makes with both the spiritual and the practical concerns of home and school.”
--Jeff Astley, International Journal of Education and Religion
  2. Educating for Life is very readable. Groome’s prose is almost poetic; very clear and concise, yet vivid. He is a master storyteller, who has a knack for making abstract concepts concrete and relevant . . . If you are looking for a comprehensive, lucid and useful volume that addresses Catholic identity, buy Education for Life. An enthusiastic two thumbs up!”
--Timothy J. Cook, Momentum, Journal of National Catholic Education Association
