Gil Bailie (Author)

Gil Bailie is the founder and president of The Cornerstone Forum. This apostolate is dedicated to calling attention to the unique cultural, spiritual, and anthropological significance of the Judeo-Christian tradition and encouraging a deeper appreciation for the history-altering impact of Christ in relation to the challenges confronting modern-day Christians. A long-time friend and student of historian René Girard, Mr. Bailie has lectured and written on the value of Girard's anthropological insights for assessing the scope and depth of the contemporary cultural crisis and for recognizing how essential a theologically, anthropologically, and sacramentally robust faith is to the challenges we now face in the world.

  1. "The most accessible work of profound cultural criticism from a Christian standpoint that I have read in many years."
    --James G. Williams, Theology Today
  2. "Gil Bailie's theories on violence are based on the kind of sound analysis of current conflicts that easily matches, or betters, today's other intellectual offerings. A rewarding and quietly inspiring work."
--Colman McCarthy, The Washington Post Book World
  3. “Anyone concerned about the rise of violence and social disintegration in our culture, and who wants to understand what is really happening, must read this book. It's that important.”
    --Sojourners
  4. “An outstanding, wonderfully written synthesis of cultural history, Scripture, current events, literature and cultural theory . . . The book’s scope, insight into the roots of violence, and final message of redemption and hope reflect a truly innovative Christian cultural critique.”
    --The Other Side
